Welcome to Frog and Frond!

Our Oophaga pumilio 2025 Calendars are now available!

We’ve been photographing poison dart frogs from the collection of Alex Menke (FrogDaddy) as a part of his project to put together an informative database of the family Dendrobatidae that are available in the US hobby. We started with different locales of O. pumilio in his massive collection and we are excited to offer a sampling of these amazing amphibians for you to enjoy throughout the year!

A LITTLE ABOUT US

We are dart frog and vivarium enthusiasts based in Bristol, VA, a town located right on the border between Virginia and Tennessee. I (Josh) first started keeping dart frogs in the winter of 2013/2014. I was in and out of the hobby for traveling and exploring the outdoors, but as my wife moved here from Japan in 2020, we decided to slowly expand our collection.

We combine our passion for Neotropical flora and fauna with our woodworking hobby. All of our vivaria are custom built by us using wood and epoxy. Not the quick and easy way to build tanks, but we enjoy the process (for the most part) and the aesthetics once they are complete and set up in our living room.

Primarily we work with tropical plants from Central and South America to compliment our frogs, which are native to the same regions. But occasionally we do come across interesting little African or Asian species that we can’t resist. You will see mostly Neotropical plants offered in our shop.

When we are not in our frog room or woodworking, we explore the mountains and valleys of Southern Appalachia for native amphibian species. All the photos of local amphibians are taken in-situ.

We hope to connect with like-minded hobbyists and share with one another passion, knowledge and experience to help the dart frog community grow and better as a whole. Thank you for stopping by our web shop and supporting our business.
