Collecting springtails to feed your animals is so much easier with clay cultures than traditional charcoal cultures; just flip it over and tap! The clay media will stick to the container while springtails drop out.

Feeding out is quick and easy – just turn up the cup and tap out the springtails. Every order comes with detailed instructions on caring for and making the most of your cultures. When maintained properly, these cultures reliably produce copious numbers of springtails for many months.
Our cultures contain over 200% of the livable surface area compared to similar clay cultures in the same size containers. We take the time to carefully spread the clay up the sides of each culture. We also apply the clay in a way to produce plenty of texture (mountains and valleys if you’re a springtail) to further increase productive living area. These extra steps improve culture productivity and longevity.

We also offer Calcium Bearing Clay Springtail Media along with our cultures to make your own springtail cultures! The clay comes in powder form. 1 pound of clay will make about 5 cultures in 8 oz deli cups. We recommend using at least 3 oz of the clay powder to make one 8 oz culture for longer lasting, more productive cultures. Each order with the clay media comes with instructions on how to make springtail cultures.
