Solanum uleanum is a stunning, unique species that does well and stands out in the vivarium. The leaves start out bright purple and turn deep green as they mature, with the underside typically staying purple. Fine, purple trichome covers the leaves and stems. The leaf shape is another distinct feature of this interesting vine, that can also shingle up a background. Like other Solanum species, this species can be finicky when started from a cutting or transplanted. We use a peat plug when rooting a stem cutting for propagation, and it has done very well for us. Requires high humidity.
To get a cutting started, keep the node(s) in contact with damp substrate like sphagnum moss, without covering the entire stem. It will root well into substrates like ABG or potting mix, but we recommend using sphagnum moss along with it to keep the plant from drying out.
Please feel free to message us if you have any concern or question about rooting a cutting.
